This November

Happy November! I hope you all enjoyed your Halloween and got an extra hour of sleep this weekend.

November is a great month! With Thanksgiving coming around the corner, we get time to settle into our homes, the cozy outfits, and spending time with friends. Here are a few things I'm looking forward to this November:

1. Voting - Exercise your right to vote this Tuesday! Check out the issues and make an informed decision. It's your responsibility! I'll be waking up bright and early to put my vote in.

2. FRIENDS & friends - I have been watching FRIENDS lately and some of my favorite episodes are the Thanksgiving ones. I'm watching the series from start to finish. Something I've never done before, and I'm almost to the football one seen above! I've also been making more of an effort to spend time with my real friends. I've been bored at work lately and my friends give me the energy to keep going!

3. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 - Oof that is a mouthful. Either way, I am equal parts excited and nervous for this next movie. I think it's a universal truth that the third Hunger Games book, Mockingjay, wasn't the best of the series and turning the movie into two parts is risky. However, I have thoroughly enjoyed the other movies, so I'm excited and hope they do a good job.

4. Friendsgiving - Last year I hosted a Friendsgiving potluck and it was wonderful. So many friends, so much food! It was perfect! I'm not sure if I'll be doing that again, but I absolutely love the concept of Friendsgiving, so I'll host something for sure.

5. This scarf - I have been told numerous time by Pinterest that I already pinned this scarf. But I keep turning back to it.

What are you excited for this November? Any great plans? I'm also taking a trip to San Francisco in a  little under 2 weeks, do you have any suggestions for things to do?

Fall 2014

We have been spoiled this year! This Summer was cool and now Fall has been absolutely gorgeous. Ok, winter was bad, but I just try to forget... The beautiful colors of fall that haven't been quite as bright in recent years finally decided to blossom for us this year.

Fall has always been one of my favorite seasons. I love wearing the light jackets, the scarves, and enjoying those last precious moments of nice weather. When the leaves crunch under your feet as you walk. The way that a warm October fades deliciously into a cool November. When we turn inward and spend time at home, cooking, baking, making cocktails. Inviting friends over to enjoy in all the cooking, baking, and cocktails. I listen to jazz music in the Fall, because it just feels right. Fall is when our towns and our hours most feel like home. Familiar and cozy.

This October has been amazing! Enjoy some of the photos I have taken.

Photos were taken in Minnesota and Iowa.

Hello Fall!

Today was the most beautiful day. The weather was like a perfect summer day, but nature was trying to tell us it is Fall with all the amazing orange and reds starting to peak out. Today also happened to be Museum Day, which is sponsored by the Smithsonian for museums nationwide to provide complementary passes to anyone. With our passes in hand, we drove out to Chaska to visit the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

It was the perfect day. We got lost among the gardens, woods, and prairies. We stumbled pass weddings and we even ran into an outdoor walking play. Enjoying the beautiful day, we walked a bit more than we meant and we left tired yet fulfilled from taking in this gorgeous Indian Summer day. Before we all start to bundle up again, it was nice to remember how beautiful Minnesota an really be.

Home.

A few weeks ago, I got the chance to spend a relaxing weekend at home. I went home to spend time with my mom for her birthday, but mostly I spent the chance to rewind and relax. Home is where you can bake all the food you desire, watch a Harry Potter movie marathon, go out for breakfast everyday, tell your friends your busy and spend all Saturday night curled up on the couch reading a good book. It always feels delightful to escape my regular life and go home.

For me, home is away. Just a short few hour drive, but still a ways away. While I'd love to be closer at times, it makes it all the more special when I get the chance to be home.
